The quota is a disk space limit for a specific mailbox. Once it fills up, new mail won’t arrive (the sender’s server gets “mailbox full”).
\n
What quota to set
\n
- Personal: 500 MB — 1 GB usually enough
- Info, sales: 2–5 GB — many attachments
- Archive, accounting: 5–10 GB or Unlimited
\n
How to change the quota in cPanel
\n
- cPanel → Email → Email Accounts
- Find the mailbox in the list
- Click Manage
- In the Storage section change the value in MB or set Unlimited
- Click Update Email Settings
\n
How to clear a mailbox
\n
When the quota is full and there’s no space:
\n
- Open Webmail (
https://yourdomain.tj/webmail) - Log into the mailbox
- Delete old folders (Sent, Trash, Junk) or big messages
- Don’t forget to empty the trash — otherwise space isn’t freed
\n
Alternatives to overflow
\n
- Auto-forward important messages to Gmail/corporate mail
- Use an IMAP client with a local archive — old mail moves to your computer
- Set up a cron job to automatically delete spam older than 30 days
