Forwarding automatically sends all incoming mail from one mailbox to another. Useful if you have many addresses on your domain and want to receive everything in one Gmail or corporate inbox.
\n
When to use
\n
- info@, sales@, support@ — receive everything in one mailbox
- System notifications — forward to your personal mail
- Old address — forward new mail to a new one after the move
\n
How to set up in cPanel
\n
- cPanel → Email → Forwarders
- Click Add Forwarder
- In Address to Forward enter the local part (e.g.
info) - Pick the domain
- In Forward to Email Address enter the destination
- Optional: Discard with error — bounce with an error message
- Click Add Forwarder
\n
Gotchas
\n
- Forwarding to Gmail — spam filters may trip (Google doesn’t love forwarded mail without correct SPF)
- To avoid spam — set up SPF on the source (Email Deliverability in cPanel)
- Want to keep a copy in the original mailbox + forward? Use Forward to a copy in Webmail Filters
